January 2017 Server Updates and Migration Print

  • 2

Beginning in May of 2016 and finishing in January of 2017, ThunderCloud Technology underwent a vast upgrade of our server technology. Our old platform, a Virtual Private Server (VPS), was becoming outdated and needed major revisions. As a team, we decided to move our entire business to a great new platform using the latest Shared Server Environments, all made possible through new technology called CloudLinux. Cloud Linux is a great web-focused operating system that allows us most importantly to continue receiving critical software updates to the many processes that run our sites and yours. The following is a small excerpt from their site (located at CloudLinux.com):

CloudLinux OS is the leading platform for multitenancy. It improves server stability, density, and security by isolating each tenant and giving them allocated server resources. This creates an environment that feels more like a virtual server than a shared hosting account. By doing so, CloudLinux OS reduces operating costs and churn rates, and increases profitability.

We have also upgraded our web host management software, cPanel, to the latest version and added some great features like CloudFlare DNS Management, Softaculous App Installer, and advanced web-stat and SEO tools. Take a look at these great additions by signing into our client portal, navigating to the My Services column, and clicking "Login to cPanel" from the left-hand navigation bar.

The great thing about running on a CloudLinux platform is that it's designed to work beautifully with cPanel's Web Host Manager (WHM) software. All aspects of your websites are managed in harmony with the other sites we host and resources are very adequately divided.

ThunderCloud Technology looks forward to working with you in the future on any web development, hosting, or network needs you may have in the future. We continually strive to provide the best, most up-to-date services on the market. Please utilize the support section of the client portal if you have any questions. You can also give us a call at (248) 956-0014.
